The Valdosta State University Giving Societies honor and thank donors who go above and beyond by contributing to VSU. These individuals donated a certain amount last year and are recognized annually for their generosity.

Sociedad Pinheiro

The Valdosta State University Alma Mater says that "among the majestic Georgia pines, glorious to behold, sits our noble alma mater, basking 'under the blue.'" These majestic pines have been here longer than our university. Their roots keep them tied to the VSU. Pine Society is the starting giving level for VSU donors. Gift relationships start here, take root and grow, just like towering pine trees over the years. The Pine Society recognizes annual contributions between $100 and $999.

The West Society is named after Colonel William Stanley West. Colonel West helped introduce the first bill to the Georgia legislature to establish a university in Valdosta. Pearson Society

Each donor has a unique story. The Pearson Society, named for retired history professor Dr. F. Lamar Pearson, also has a history. Dr. Pearson taught at VSU for 39 years. During those years, he made annual donations to VSU. The gifts started out small, and as he progressed in his career, they got a little bigger. Throughout her career, Dr. Pearson has totaled more than $100,000. The Pearson Society was established to encourage a lifetime of giving to VSU. Donors who reach a cumulative lifetime total of at least $100,000 are recognized as members of the Pearson Society.
